Liposuction Fat Removal: Post-Surgical Recovery Tips
If you have unwanted fat deposits in your body but you aren’t too overweight, then liposuction can be a great way to downsize the areas of concern.
What is Liposuction Fat Removal?
Liposuction is one of the most popular procedures that remove stubborn fat from different parts of your body such as hips, stomach, thighs, abdomen, chin and arms. During liposuction, the surgeon makes small incisions and threads cannula (a thin tube) through the incisions which suctions out the fat.
As with any surgical procedure, liposuction also requires some downtime once the surgery is done. Understanding the recovery period and expectations can help you decide if the surgery is right for you or not.

When should you go home after Liposuction Surgery?
Most patients can go home the same day as their surgery. When the anaesthesia from the surgery wears off, you will take some rest in a recovery room. You will be able to go back home after an hour or so after the liposuction surgery. However, make sure that you have someone to drive you home.
What should you do during the recovery period?
Make sure to take it easy after your liposuction surgery, especially the first week. Consider taking two weeks off from work after the surgery so that your body can properly heal. When we say take it easy, it means to avoid going to work or doing any regular activities such as working out, or any other strenuous activity. Although it is recommended to take proper rest, you do not have to be confined to your bed. You can take walks and move around your house as and when required.
