Your kitchen is a place full of ingredients that can enhance your beauty and make you glow naturally. And when you know how to mix and match these ingredients, you can create remedies that can do wonder to your skin. But when there’s a plethora of home-based remedies available, one can be left perplexed as to what’s worth trying and what isn’t. Here are the better ones in our opinion: –

  • Tomato and Honey:

While almost everyone is aware about honey as an effective skin care ingredient, there are only few who know about the benefits of tomatoes for glowing skin. Tomatoes have lycopene which works great to fight aging signs, exfoliate skin and lighten blemishes. The combination of these two can work wonders to balance the skin and clear breakouts.

What to do?

Mix honey with juice of half a tomato to form a paste. Apply it firmly all over the face and leave it for half an hour. After that, rinse your face thoroughly with fresh water.

  • Honey & Lemon:

Honey is a natural moisturizer and lemon is a rich source of Vitamin C which is excellent to reduce dark spots. Both honey and lemon work as natural bleachers, making the skin glow radiantly, along with being an effective remedy for acne and pimple treatment.

What to do?

Take 1 tablespoon each of lemon juice and honey and mix thoroughly until honey gets dissolved completely. Moisten your face and apply the lotion on your face, neck and hands and leave it for 20-25 minutes. Wash your face thoroughly with cold water.

  • Papaya, Milk & Honey:

Papaya is an extremely rich source of Vitamin C, Vitamin A, antioxidants, foliate, pantothenic acid, Potassium and Magnesium which make it a highly beneficial skin food. When Papaya is combined with milk and honey, they blend together to form a glow-restoring mask that gently exfoliates the top layers of skin while sufficiently hydrating it.

What to do?

Mix mashed papaya pulp with one tablespoon of honey and two tablespoons of milk. Apply this restoring mask all over the face with an even application and let it stay for half an hour. Massage in circular motion while rinsing your face with fresh water.  You will see an instant healthy glow on the skin.

  • Oats

Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties, and is also known to for its exfoliating properties. Oats work as a great scrubber, helping to extract the daily toxins off the skin and giving it a brimming shine and smoothness.

What to do?

Take half a cup of oats and pour a little warm water in it. Leave it for 5 minutes. The warm water will help in forming a thick paste. Apply it on your face and gently rub and massage in a circular motion with your fingers. Rub harder around and on the nose to remove blackheads, for 15 minutes. Then, wash off with cold water. This will make your skin smooth and fair.

These are the four good home based remedies that add up well for a skin care regime at home. The key to getting healthy skin lies in understanding which remedy works best for your skin, and then following it consistently. Along with that, it is essential that you sleep well and drink plenty of water, for that’s the precursor to a naturally vivacious skin.
